Grade 6-7

The children transition easily into formal education and it is during these three years that our learners build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that will enable them to succeed throughout their school careers. Where possible learning is linked to real life experiences and learners benefit from having teachers who are thorough, creative and dedicated. In addition to CAPS and curriculum coverage, we also have a well-stocked library and computer lab. Children learn to operate computers as they integrate classroom learning and technology.

The following subjects are taught in Grade R:
  • Afrikaans (First Additional Language)
  • Creative Arts (Music, Art and Drama)
  • English (Home Language)
  • Life Orientation (which includes Physical Education)
  • Mathematics
  • Natural Science
  • Social Sciences (History and Geography)

Grade R

Grade Rs are taught in an informal learning environment. It provides learners with a key foundational year where the gap between home and formal schooling is bridged. The Grade R curriculum provides children the opportunity to learn through play, in non-threatening and non-judgmental surroundings that are fun, hands on and real life based. It is a year where children are given a chance to fine tune school readiness skills and grow holistically; in an environment that meets their cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs – better preparing them for the demands of Grade 1 and formal schooling.

Aftercare Program

Aftercare facilities are available so that working parents can have peace of mind that their children are being well looked after.

The Aftercare Centre is open between:

2:00 pm - 5:30 pm weekdays

We offer a well-supervised facility, which includes a fantasy room, dress-up area and a reading corner for quiet time. The staff are highly qualified in the supervision of young people and provide an environment where children can become involved in indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts and constructive play.
